5 reasons why a crafter should have a blog ?
Crafting can be such a stress busting activity. Life being in the fast lane, any hobby for that matter, slows down everything around and helps relish the little time that we have for ourselves. That said, a hobby skill can eventually translate into an expertise par excellence. And such proficiency needs to be showcased and shown off to a wider set of audience. For this reason, and many more, here is why I think having a blog can help a crafter :

  • It is easier to show your skill to your friends and family. It maybe quite a task, but taking it to a following in FB is also doable. There is one constraint through – The audience is limited. Having a blog enables you to display your talent to a wider range of folks with no demographic limitation.
Why a crafter should have a blog
  • Any post in your FB page or Twitter becomes little difficult to pull out once the timeline is filled with newer posts. With a blog, it is easier to categorize and lead the readers to a post that they are specifically looking at. Additionally labels and tags help you to club similar posts together.
  • If you are looking at sharing your knowledge with others by way of DIY tips, How-tos, and step by step instructions, a blog becomes an easier medium to pen down your instruction manual with literally no restriction on the number of words.
  • Blogging about your craft can result in establishing yourself as an expert in that niche, of course, over a period of time. You would be surprised to know how many would eventually turn to you for suggestions and recommendation.
  • Sharing is fun. Crafting is fun. A blog can double the fun by enabling you to share the craft that you are indulging in. You get an opportunity to network with like minded fellow crafters which can serve as an enriching experience by itself.
These are the key reasons that I can think of. Of course, when you take your craft to the next level and make a business out of it, it can serve as a platform to promote your shop. But then, I am talking about a hobby crafter at this point. Can you think of other reasons why he / she should have a blog ?
